VEGETABLE GARDENS &
FOOD FORESTS
Taking control of your own food production is a practice of self-care and environmental stewardship. From designing your garden spaces to building a self-sustaining food forest (mini orchard consisting of all edible and medicinal plants).
01

MEADOWSCAPING & POLLINATOR GARDENS
Part of our goal is to shift the culture on what our landscapes can and should look like. By reducing our lawns and converting portions of them into meadows (a mixture of native perennial flowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees), we can build rich and resilient ecosystems that add beauty and value to our space.
02

WATER FEATURES & MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
Rainwater harvesting systems, rain gardens, bioswales, and water features ensure efficient and sustainable use of this scarce resource, while enhancing the sustainability of our garden, home, and/or business
04

GARDEN
INFRASTRUCTURE
A complete design requires built structures to support accessibility, functionality, and aesthetic cohesion. We design and build pathways, raised beds, vertical gardens, water features, and other essential hardscape elements.
07

CUSTOM
GREENHOUSES
Grow your own food year-round. Grow plants that typically aren't available in your climate. Have a lush, green space to enjoy in the winter. We design and install traditional and passive solar greenhouses for all spaces and goals.
05

FUNCTIONAL OUTDOOR LIVING SPACES
Extend the comfort and utility of your home or business by crafting custom functional outdoor living spaces that connect you to nature and support wellness. ADUs, kitchens, saunas, outdoor studios, and more.

RADIANT DESIGN ELEMENTS
DESIGN & BUILD PROCESS
01
Consult
We will clarify your goals and vision, define your budget, and review potential solutions. Remote or in-person.
02
Plan
We provide a full ecological site assessment that will uncover the unique characteristics of your space. We gather information on key elements such as soil composition and health, solar access, water access, and how your space influences and is influenced by the surrounding environment.
03
Design
Combining your vision with our ecological assessment, we develop a comprehensive design that uses regenerative practices and sustainable, low-maintenance, resilient systems for land use, water management, food production, and energy efficient living spaces.
04
Build & Install
RSD can build, install, and/or project manage all design components. Alternatively, we can create a clear and executable plan for the clients to DIY our design.
05
Maintain
We offer ongoing consultation, education, and maintenance services to ensure the longevity of our work and your happiness.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
01
Lifestyle Goals
We want your space to bring you joy and enhance your lifestyle. Help us by thinking through some of the questions:
❈ What specific activities will draw you outdoors?
❈ How might this space support physical and mental well-being?
❈ How involved in maintenance do you want to be?
❈ What positive changes in your life are you hoping for?
02
Design-Specific Goals
Reflect on the following questions to help refine what you want to achieve:
❈ What design elements would like to prioritize?
❈ Ecological goals - planting natives, biodiversity, soil health, etc.?
❈ Are you interested in integrating renewable energy sources?
❈ If growing food, what plants would best support your needs?
03
Budget
Each design can involve significant earthworks, plantings, and infrastructure development, and costs can vary significantly depending on the scale and complexity of the project. Being transparent about your budget will help us make recommendations that are achievable within your means. This is an investment in yourself and your future. In a relatively short time, our designs lower costs of living, increase the value of your space, and improve your ability to care for yourself and the environment.
04
Timeline
Consider the timeline for the project, including the design phase, installation, and ongoing maintenance. We can help you create a realistic timeline based on your goals, budget, and desired outcomes.
The best times for installation are typically April-June and September-October
